The season winter comes between autumn and spring, And it the cold season of the year.
If we consider the Calendar, it starts in the northern hemisphere from December to February and in the southern hemisphere from June to August.
Winter is the favorite season for all people because of snowboarding in the mountains, curling up by the fire, enjoying some hot coffee, and wrapping our different warm clothes. - Rashes Skin or Dry Skin
The condition is common in winter. Skin loses too much moisture due to exposure to cold weather and continuous flow of dry air. Then it started itching. In this season our body produces more sebum(It’s a natural oil, produced by the sebaceous glands of our body). More sebum is a cause of acne. So, In winter we experience worse acne and other problems in our face.
- Color changes in our Skin
Some people are experiencing skin tone changes in winter because of Hyperpigmentation. But we experience it in the summer season. That is not the case, sometimes dry weather, cold temperatures, and decreased humidity can cause dry patches on the skin and worsen skin conditions like acne, psoriasis, and eczema, leaving behind persistent dark spots.
- Dandruff in the scalp
Winter can be seriously tough on hair and scalp as well. Cold, dry air, harsh climate, and everything that comes with it can make your hair dehydrated and more prone to breakage than the warmer months. Sometimes we feel itchy in our scalp.

1 – Stay Hydrated. Drink a lot of lukewarm water
Water evaporates from your body quickly. So, you need to keep your skin hydrated.
2 – Don’t go for Hot shower
We all love to go for hot showers in winter, but it is dangerous for our skin. Hot showers dry your skin easily, and if you do not moisturize it instantly, your skin can develop cracks. So use lukewarm water for a shower and after that apply some good quality moisturizer on your skin because it contains hyaluronic acid and ceramides. This will keep the moisture barrier intact and prevent dryness.
3 – Careful about your skincare products
What keeps your skin happy during summers can make it sad during winters.so you need to change the product according to your skin type in winter. Choose cleansers that contain moisturizers to avoid shredding your skin of its natural moisture barrier. If you have acne or breakouts problems, use products containing ceramides, hyaluronic acid, hydration serums, and glycerin to help in repairing the moisture barrier of your skin.
4 – Do Not Peel Your Skin A Lot
Peeling the skin helps in getting rid of dead cells. You have to be careful during winters because your skin barrier is already breaking due to the dry and cold weather. Peeling once a week is fine.
5 – Care of your hands and feet
Hands have fewer oil glands as compared to the other area of the skin of your body. That’s why moisture escapes from your hands easily. And the absence of moisture starts itching so apply moisturizer before going outside. Use glycerin-based creams and petroleum jelly to moisturize your feet. Lower the water temperature when you wash your hair. Use oil treatment twice a week. If you have dandruff issues use a shampoo that contains ketoconazole. Always wear a cap when you go outside.
7 – Protect your skin
Use sunscreen lotion before going outside. Choose a sunscreen that has titanium dioxide or zinc oxide. And don’t forget to cover up your skin before stepping out to avoid the cold wind and snow.
8 – Choose your Fruits
Whenever you get seasonal fruits grab them. It is very useful for our skin. Orange is one of them. It contains Vitamin-C which is very helpful for our skin and hair. Strawberries, grapes, blueberries, raspberries, or cherries – pick anything you love.
9 – Use sunglasses in snowy places
If you are staying or traveling to any snowy places then make sure you use good quality UV-protected sunglasses for protecting your under-eye skin. Snow can harm the skin around your eyes and cause brown spots, fine lines, and other issues.
10 – Exercise
I know it’s hard to leave your coziness with a blanket and move out for running or walking or doing any exercises. But do it if you want healthy skin in winter.
In winter, the oil and sweat glands in your body and the blood vessels tighten a bit.
